International Business Advisor

The Hague & Partners is a publicly funded non-profit organisation, with the core task of attracting visitors, businesses and conferences to The Hague, and then keeping them here. Through our marketing and acquisition activities, we stimulate The Hague’s economy and create employment for its residents. The way we do this is by forging connections. We connect new businesses with The Hague, visitors with the city’s attractions, and event planners with local conference venues. And we don’t do this alone: we work closely with colleagues and with our partners to promote the city that we love.
The Hague & Partners is the official marketing and acquisition organization for promoting leisure, conferences, and business developments in The Hague. As a professional non-profit organization, we aim to strengthen the economy of our city and promote employment by attracting (inter)national visitors, conferences, businesses, and institutions to the city.
Our business division, the Business Agency, is focused on helping international companies and NGOs to strategically expand their operations to The Hague region. We assist them by offering tailor-made programmes and services to ensure that these pioneering businesses and NGOs have a soft landing in The Hague and surrounding areas.
For this division we are seeking to recruit an International Business Advisor specializing in New Energy (fulltime).
The Hague boasts an impressive track record in the energy sector, dating back to the establishment of the Royal Dutch Petroleum Company in 1907. Over the years, The Hague has evolved into a global hub for planning, executing, and coordinating energy projects. This has led to the creation of a thriving energy cluster where operators, engineers, investors, and knowledge institutes collaborate. With a burgeoning regional network of innovators, facilitators, and consortia in digital connectivity, cybersecurity, and smart industry, The Hague is poised to continue its role as an incubator for new energy concepts towards a low-carbon society.
Your responsibilities will include
- The International Business Advisor for New Energy will be responsible for acquisition activities related to the recruitment and retention of foreign companies in the New energy sector within the The Hague region.
- Develop and implement client acquisition propositions and activities to generate leads and attract foreign companies and organizations to The Hague.
- Collaborate closely with international business advisors responsible for other sectors and countries, as well as with marketing communication staff, sales support and convention bureau colleagues.
- Report to the Team Manager of the Business Agency, taking into account the requirements and wishes of the City of The Hague and other partners and stakeholders.
- Actively maintain and expand strategic relationships with companies, startups, and scale-ups.
- Keeping a good relationship with partnering parties, including consulates and embassies abroad, as well as various institutions and network organizations, such as the partners affiliated with Invest in Holland, Innovation Quarter, Rotterdam Partners and the Economic Department of The City of The Hague.
- Work closely with colleagues at The Hague & Partners and with external experts.

Requirements
- HBO or academic (WO) level of thinking and working.
- Minimum 5 years of work experience in the energy sector with decent knowledge about new energy technology and development.
- Experienced with client acquisition, business development and marketing.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in both Dutch and English.
- Skilled in maintaining external contacts at various levels Independent, decisive, engaging, and a true pioneer.
- Entrepreneurial mindset to creatively develop new market segments and partnerships.
- Flexible attitude, as the role requires working outside regular hours and traveling (abroad).
