The Hague is leading up to the NATO Summit in June 2025

28 January 2025

The start of a nationwide and local programme, including the ‘Just Peace Festival’

Today marks the official launch of "The Hague Road to Summit," a series of events leading up to the NATO Summit in June 2025. Running from 28 January until the end of June, the programme will feature a variety of activities across the city, bringing together local communities, international organisations, and policymakers.

Together with the local ‘Road to Summit’ programme, the launch of ‘NATO on Tour’ will take place to announce activities to promote the NATO in the Netherlands. Both programmes will start today during the 57th edition of the annual The Hague International Model United Nations (THIMUN) in World Forum. This is a yearly simulation of the United Nations by 3200 students from 200 schools across 100 countries. This year, THIMUN will also simulate the NATO Summit of 2025. In this simulation, 32 students will take on the roles of NATO member states and work together to reach a joint final declaration.

About 'Road to Summit'
The start includes the launch of the official website www.roadtosummit.nl. Providing a platform for organisations to register their events and access the full programme. "The Road to Summit" aims to engage a broad spectrum of participants, including residents, students, international institutions, non-profits, and cultural organisations. The initiative seeks to promote peace and reduce polarisation by fostering open dialogue, reinforcing The Hague's role as the international city of peace and justice. One of these initiatives is the Just Peace Festival that runs from 1 to 30 June in The Hague. For more information click HERE
