Wrap up warm and celebrate Royal Winter in The Hague

16 November 2023

The Hague - Winter is coming, so grab the mittens, put on your warmest coat and enjoy all the winter activities in The Hague. The city is ready to welcome visitors for a royal winter experience, a Royal Winter in The Hague.

From atmospheric Christmas markets - such as the Royal Christmas Fair and the nostalgic Hofkwartier Winter Market - to the enchanting indoor ice skating rink of the Cool Event on Kurhausplein and the dazzling performances of Magical Scheveningen, there is something for everyone. The whole city will be enveloped in beautiful decorations, cheerful light objects and stylish Christmas lights, all highlights of which are part of two winter themed walks.

Combine your day out with a visit to Scheveningen, where in early December thousands of enthusiastic walkers will take part in the grand light festival, the Scheveningen Light Walk. If the inclement weather becomes too much for you, warm up during a visit to one of the many (indoor) family attractions and be amazed by Legoland Discovery Centre, Sea Life Scheveningen, the AFAS Circustheater or the winter weeks at Madurodam.

With its royal history and beautiful architecture, The Hague offers a unique setting for a winter weekend getaway, an outing with the whole family or a day of Christmas shopping. Music lovers can swing their shopping in December during Jazz En Route, when top national and international acts from the jazz and soul scene perform in the shopping streets around Noordeinde Palace.

Besides music, hoof trampling can be heard in the streets of Scheveningen's city centre and boulevard in December. Take a free ride in one of the beautiful horse-drawn carriages that offer hop-on/hop-off rides on different days. You can also take a romantic ride on a classic tram; the historic trams travel to Scheveningen and back via an atmospherically lit route.

Celebrate winter in style and come to The Hague, the winter capital of the Netherlands. Discover the royal charm, enjoy the winter activities and be enchanted by the magic of Royal Winter in The Hague. For more information on winter activities in The Hague, visit denhaag.com/winter.
