The Hague - A new temporary 'art experience' will open in The Hague in October, 'MC's Mindgames'. About five designers and artists reflect on the work of the Netherlands' most famous graphic artist, M.C. Escher, through various indoor installations in the centre of The Hague.
MC's Mindgames is a route of five unique installations around the Binnenhof. At each location, an interior is designed in a special way by a leading designer or artist reflecting on Escher's work. MC's Mindgames takes place during Escher's anniversary: this whole year, The Hague celebrates the graphic artist's 125th birthday.
Mary Hessing, Binnenhof programmer at The Hague & Partners, directs the project. "MC's Mindgames will touch and surprise visitors, just as Escher's work still does today," she says. "The concept combines the effect of popular 'Instagram museums' with the special aesthetics of presentations like at the Salone del Mobile in Milan. The installations excite all the senses."
The experience trail, whose name refers to the initials of Maurits Cornelis Escher, is freely accessible during the day on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 6 to 29 October. In addition, MC's Mindgames can be visited in the evening during Museum Night, 7 October. Exact locations and the names of the artists/designers will be announced soon.
MC's Mindgames is a production of BinnenhofBuiten, a project of The Hague & Partners. BinnenhofBuiten organises events and activities in the Museum Quarter during the renovation of the Binnenhof, such as previously BlowUp Art Den Haag in May this year.
