On Monday 23 June, the city of The Hague is pleased to invite you to exclusive press visits designed for international media covering the NATO Summit. Join us on a unique behind-the-scenes journey exploring the institutions and ideas that shape The Hague’s global role in peace, justice and security. Meet the Clingendael Institute at the World Forum
Meet one of the experts like Bob Deen, Dick Zandee, Rem Korteweg or Karen van Loon of the Clingendael Institute. These specialists bring in-depth knowledge on NATO and European defense, transatlantic relations, the Russia–Ukraine conflict, hybrid warfare, intelligence, Arctic security, and Ukraine’s political reform and EU candidacy.
Sessions will be booked after registration at the World Forum during the NATO Summit.
09:30 – 11:30 Discover the historic centre
Meet us in the heart of The Hague for a NATO-themed walking tour of the historic city centre. Hosted by city expert Martin Born, we explore The Hague, visit the mind-bending graphic art museum Escher in The Palace and finish with a mini tasting session inspired by The Hague royal history.
Start: restaurant Jamey Bennett (Plaats 11, The Hague) with coffee and tea from 09.00h
End: One-way bus transfer provided back to the World Forum.
11:30 – 13:00 Visit to the International Criminal Court (ICC)
Experience a visit to the ICC, including a guided tour and an introduction to the Court’s role in upholding international law.
Bus transfer provided from and to the World Forum.
12:15 – 14.00 Meet the Dutch masters
Secure your chance to come face-to-face with the wonderous Girl with the Pearl Earring painting at the Mauritshuis. This short, guided tour of The Hague’s world-famous museum allows a look at the highlights of the impressive collection of Dutch Masters, including Rembrandt, Vermeer and Fabritius.
Bus transfer provided from and to the World Forum.
13:30 – 14:30 Online speed dating with international law: meet Asser Institute experts.
Online session about the world’s most pressing legal issues. Step inside the key debates shaping international justice. From war crimes and press freedom in Ukraine to the ethics of the arms trade and the power—and peril—of sanctions, top legal experts of Asser Institute will break down the global issues dominating headlines.

16:30 – 18:30 Visit the Peace Palace
Enjoy a walking tour or shuttle bus from the World Forum to the Peace Palace. Home of the International Court of Justice, the Permanent Court of Arbitration and the International Law Library. Followed by a guided tour of the Peace Palace and informal networking reception with fellow correspondents.
Please note transport back is not included. Walking distance is 1.7 km to the World Forum. Walking shoes are recommended.
18:45 – 22:00 Hague Talks – What is Just Peace?
End your day with an inspiring evening of ideas, reflection, and performance. Hague Talks invites leading changemakers to explore the question: “What does a Just Peace look like?” Featuring speakers such as Kumi Naidoo, Rugiatu Turay-Koroma, Jess O’Connell, and Sahar Shirzad. With performances by Nichelle Buyne, Ruby Joemai, and Shaza Manla. Hosted by Leila Prnjavorac. Opening by Deputy Mayor Mariëlle Vavier.
Please note this event is organised by The Hague Humanity Hub in collaboration with the Municipality of The Hague and Leiden University and requires separate registration via this LINK. At Amare Studio with own (public) transport or via livestream.
