Information for Ukranian Refugees & for people who want to help:
We’ve been watching the war in Ukraine with heavy hearts. Like everyone else, were are left deeply shocked by the developments in Ukraine.
We condemn war in its every form and we stand with all the people affected by the recent events in Ukraine.
As the city of Peace and Justice – The Hague’s eco-system has truly mobilized and stepped up its efforts to help Ukraine and the Ukrainian refugee’s seeking safety and asylum.
We have collated a list of links of initiatives within The Hague on this webpage for Ukranian Refugee’s that have made their way to The Netherlands and for the inidividuals who want to help out.

Latest Updates.
After the 1st of July two changes will go into effect for refugees from Ukraine in the Netherlands:
Refugees from Ukraine can obtain a proof of residency from the Immigratie- en Naturalisatiedienst (IND) that will allow you to live and work in the Netherlands. The proof will be in the form of a sticker or card. You can make an appointment to collect your proof at the Broodfabriek in Rijswijk or one of the other IND pickup locations.
The Regeling Medische zorg Onthmeenden will cover working and non-working refugees registered in the BRP. Ukrainians who are not registered yet are still covered by the CAK. Ukrainians who work do not have to take out their own health insurance when they start working. You do not have to pay health care premium and will not receive health care benefits. The RMO covers all care from the basic coverage plan, but also has several additions. From 1 August onwards health care costs can be claimed under the RMO by the health care provider (for more information - click here).
Embassy of Ukraine in The Kingdom of The Netherlands will be holding a Ukranian Art Exhibition (read more here).
Previous Updates
Updates as of 06/04/22:
Monthly fees living allowances and easier process for municipalities. Ukrainians are entitled to the same allowances as other asylum seekers, but will receive a monthly fee.
The Government will provide refugees with a weekly living allowance of €60 per person in municipal shelter or €135 if they are staying in private accommodation.
Calculations have been simplified. Municipal registration is not a condition any more for allowances. Updates for procedures in The Hague will follow soon at denhaag.nl/oekraine.
Ukrainian nationals are entitled to work in paid employment as of 1 April. The UWV needs to me notified 2 days before the work starts. Salary needs to be paid into bank accounts. Non-Ukrainian nationals are not entitled to work yet under temporary protection, but need to wait for new regulations or apply for a regular work permit.
The government will not supply statements to people picking up refugees at the borders.
Refugees from Ukraine need to register with the municipality (BRP). The Immigratie- en Naturalisatiedienst (IND) is automatically notified. Later refugees need to apply for asylum with the IND. The IND will provide them with a document to prove temporary protection and will not decide on the asylum for as long as the EU temporary protection scheme runs (up to 3 years). There is a transition period until the residence status can be proven with the residence document. Ukrainian refugees do not need to do anything else for their residence rights. Municipalities are increasing capacity to register refugees. For the time being, refugees have residence rights during their visa free period in The Netherlands.
Non-documented third country nationals will need further assessment and would need to apply for asylum in Ter Apel if they cannot prove their legal residence in Ukraine. They are entitled to return and reintegrate support of Dienst Terugkeer en Vertrek (DTenV) and IOM - UN Migration
