FroggyTalk: The Startup in The Hague Keeping Diaspora Communities Connected Through Affordable Global Calls

25 September 2025

FroggyTalk is using tech to bridge emotional distances for migrants and refugees, with The Hague as its European base.

Staying connected to home in a new country

When Oluseyi Adepoju first experienced a Dutch winter in 2022, he found himself struggling with isolation and health challenges. Like many newcomers, he leaned heavily on long-distance calls with family back home, but those calls came at a cost.

“That experience made me really think about how I could help people like me stay connected with home while navigating integration challenges abroad,” says Oluseyi.

That reflection became the seed for FroggyTalk, a mobile app offering low-cost, high-quality international calls tailored to diaspora communities. Built by and for people on the move, FroggyTalk aims to reduce the emotional and financial toll of staying in touch across borders - with no hidden fees, reliable connections, and even multilingual support.

Choosing The Hague: a city that matches the mission

FroggyTalk officially established its presence in The Hague, a decision that Oluseyi describes as a perfect fit.

“The Hague, the international city of justice, fits perfectly into FroggyTalk’s impact thesis,” he explains. “The ready availability of impact networks and the support from The Hague & Partners were a big influence.”

The company found not only a base but a thriving ecosystem for socially driven innovation. The Hague’s reputation as a hub for peace, justice, and inclusive tech made it a natural home for a platform focused on global connection and community empowerment.

The role of the Business Agency

From the beginning, the Business Agency played an active role in supporting FroggyTalk’s soft landing in the Netherlands.

“Daisy has been amazing every step of the way,” Oluseyi says. “She made introductions to banks, helped with setting up business accounts, connected us to workspaces, notaries, and administrative service providers that are essential for running a company.”

This hands-on guidance helped FroggyTalk quickly transition from concept to operational startup in a new country - showcasing the value of The Hague’s internationally focused support network.

What’s next: from calling app to integration partner

Looking ahead, FroggyTalk’s ambitions go beyond just communication. The next phase of the company’s roadmap will explore deeper collaboration with local institutions that support migrant integration.

In Q4 2025, FroggyTalk secured €300,000 in funding, reinforcing its ambition to scale affordable global calling for diaspora communities. This new investment will fuel the company’s next phase of growth and deepen its integration into support systems for newcomers in the Netherlands.

“We’re planning to carry out extensive interviews with the municipality and other agencies involved in integration across the Netherlands,” says Oluseyi. “Introductions to the right people will help accelerate our execution and service delivery.”

By connecting not just families but also public services and newcomers, FroggyTalk aims to become a trusted digital bridge for communities navigating new lives abroad.
