The Hague – The artists of Billytown, Trixie, and WEST END are bringing their work from the studio to the heart of the city for the first time — to the Museum Quarter. In three glass vitrines along the Lange Vijverberg, they showcase their creations. From Saturday 4 October to Sunday 2 November, discover how these The Hague–based makers surprise, move, and inspire the city.

Haagse Broedplaatsen are collective and creative initiatives led by professional The Hague–based artists from the arts and culture sector. These initiatives take many forms — from studio and gallery spaces to online and nomadic platforms — always with the goal of fostering experimentation, exploration, exchange, and play. They bring together makers from various disciplines such as visual art, photography, design, music, dance, and theatre.

Three dynamic creative hubs are showcasing their talent, offering the public a unique glimpse into The Hague’s art world.

WEST END Located in the monumental Spanjaardshof — once a 17th-century orphanage — WEST END is home to over 31 artists. It connects emerging and established makers in an inspiring environment.

Billytown Billytown is based in “De Helena”, a space not only for exhibiting work but also for developing practices, building community, and fostering dialogue.

Trixie Just a stone’s throw from The Hague’s red-light district, Trixie is a platform run by a diverse group of young artists. It provides a stage for experimentation, collaboration, and sustainable initiatives.

Together, these three initiatives demonstrate how diverse, groundbreaking, and surprising The Hague is as a city of art.

“In addition to museums and galleries, The Hague has many wonderful artist initiatives and creative hubs where you can experience art. To showcase that, we invited three of them to present themselves along the Hofvijver — with surprising results!”Mary Hessing, curator of BinnenhofBuiten

Art in the Museum Quarter  - The Museum Quarter is a true cultural magnet. With 13 cultural hotspots located around the Lange Voorhout, the area is alive year-round with inspiring stories of old masters and young heroes. With the arrival of the display cases, you’ll now find even more stories temporarily on the street — right by the Hofvijver, under the trees of the Lange Vijverberg, with the Binnenhof as a backdrop. An open-air exhibition where art and the public meet.

BinnenhofBuiten - BinnenhofBuiten organizes events and activities during the renovation of the Binnenhof and is a project by The Hague & Partners, commissioned by the Municipality of The Hague. BinnenhofBuiten is curated by Mary Hessing in collaboration with the artists.

The outdoor exhibition “A Glimpse into the Studios of Billytown, Trixie and West End”, co-curated by Mary Hessing, opens this weekend and can be viewed until Sunday 2 November.
