A spectacular new installation at the Gevangenpoort makes the Spiegelfestival in Museumkwartier The Hague shine even brighter
12 February 2025
On Valentine's Day - Friday 14 February - from 2-5pm, people who love each other can have their love reflected and a loving memory captured with a polaroid photo, earn a delicious chocolate heart and enjoy heartwarming Valentine's specials.
At The Hague Spiegelfestival's ‘Reflections in Common’ pavilion, visitors will have the chance to have a free polaroid photo taken with their loved one as a lasting reminder of their love for each other. The first 50 couples to share the photo on social media with hashtag #SpiegelFestivalDH will receive a delicious chocolate heart as a sweet reward.
Love does not go unnoticed
Upon showing their own polaroid, love couples can enjoy special Valentine's offers at participating catering establishments. A glass of cava at Brasserie Gallery61, a love cake at Hotel des Indes and Bodega de Posthoorn. Or a romantic dinner at Restaurant Botanica, Dudok and Gallery61. Enough choice for an unforgettable Valentine's date.
Playful extra
Playful monumentality is an impressive installation at the Gevangenpoort, a 14th-century national monument in The Hague. Once the entrance to the Binnenhof and later notorious as the prison of the De Witt brothers. Artist Feddow Claassen replaces that old history with a new perspective. Using aluminium sheets fitted all around, he creates an effect reminiscent of laughing mirrors, with the convex (convex) and concave (concave) curves distorting the image. Visitors see themselves and their surroundings as long and thin or, conversely, short and wide, adding a playful twist to the historical monumentality. Don't miss this enchanting addition to the festival!
Spiegelfestival
The Spiegelfestival is all about reflection:literally and figuratively, couples can see themselves and their love reflected in the unique magical setting of art installations and mirrors. The Spiegelfestival, to be experienced until 2 March, is part of BinnenhofBuiten, a project by The Hague & Partners in which events and art exhibitions will be developed in the Museumkwartier The Hague during the renovation of the Binnenhof.
