Royal Institute Of Engineers (KIVI)
Are you looking for a stylish location for your meeting, training or conference? The monumental KIVI building offers you perfect service at an affordable price.
Situated on the Prinsessegracht 23 in the centre of The Hague, the Patrician house that was built in 1728, now houses the Royal Institute Of Engineers KIVI. The Institute offers the perfect venue if you’re looking for a central accommodation in a classical style with a contemporary touch to host a training, congress, workshop, lecture, reception or meeting for up to 100 attendees.
The building is easily accessible by car and public transport and is only a couple of minutes walking distance from The Hague Central Station. There is ample parking space either on the canal in front of the building or in the parking garage opposite the venue.
The meeting rooms
The Grote Zaal at the rear of the venue, the site of the former carriage house, was renovated in 2008 and now serves as a meeting room equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. The room has a maximum capacity of 100 persons in theatre style and 36 in square formation. Coffee, tea and refreshments can be served in the foyer, which often serves as a break-out, or you can access the garden to get some fresh air and continue your discussions.
The other 16 meeting rooms all lie behind the building’s stately facade emanating peace and quiet. These rooms reflect the grandeur of the old days, classically decorated and designed in great detail. Nonetheless, these rooms also feature the equipment needed to organise a successful meeting, including monitor’s, laptops and other facilities. Some rooms are named after engineers that have earned their merit in Dutch society. The Conrad Room for example was named after Frederik Willem Conrad, as a Dutch hydraulic engineer and railway pioneer and one of the founders of KIVI. The Conrad Room is flanked by the Calandzaal, each having direct access to the garden. These rooms have a capacity of 16 people. The Presidents Room, with a view of the Malieveld, is also situated on the ground floor and can hold up to 14 people.
One flight of stairs up you will find the following rooms: Huygens, Mol, Schepers, Lely and Van Leeuwenhoek. These rooms can accommodate a maximum of 15, 24, 20, 5 and 8 persons. On the second floor you will find seven rooms, ranging in meeting sizes from 4 to 27.
On the third you will find the KIVI 0070-Lab. You are welcome here for up to 25 people.
