First Scope screenings bring South Holland filmmakers to the big screen
A new chapter for South Holland’s film sector begins in The Hague on 22 September. Scope, the regional film talent hub launched earlier this year, is starting Scope on Screen: a travelling programme bringing short films by filmmakers from across the region to cinemas and audiences throughout South Holland.
The first screening takes place at Flora Filmtheater in The Hague, followed by screenings in Gouda, Leiden, Alphen aan den Rijn, Dordrecht, Delft, Rotterdam and Schiedam.
It marks one of the first results since The Hague and Rotterdam joined forces earlier this year to strengthen the regional film and media ecosystem. Scope was officially launched during International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) 2026, bringing cities and industry partners together to create more opportunities for local talent and encourage film and media productions to take place in the region.
Scope on Screen adds another element to that ambition: helping filmmakers get their work in front of an audience. The programme features six short films made in 2025 and 2026, spanning documentary, fiction, animation and experimental film. Each screening lasts around 80 minutes and is followed by a Q&A with filmmakers, giving audiences an opportunity to meet the people behind the productions.

- Teken en Zie de Wereld, directed by Safi Graauw;
- Trotter, directed by Annigje Peters and Manouk Moreau;
- Dutch Dreams, directed by Flo Meijer;
- Last Shot, directed by Parham Rahimzadeh;
- This is Your Captain Speaking, directed by Nienke Deutz and Digna van der Put.
All films will be screened with English subtitles.
The selection was made by a committee involving Scope partners and representatives from IFFR, Filmhuis Den Haag and New Producers Academy.
Rather than concentrating screenings in the largest cities, Scope on Screen travels throughout South Holland:

- 2 December – Kino (Rotterdam)
- 13 December – Wenneker Cinema (Schiedam)
The approach reflects the wider idea behind Scope: film talent, production expertise and audiences are spread across the region and do not stop at municipal boundaries.
When Scope was launched in February, The Hague and Rotterdam also announced a joint €100,000 incentive scheme aimed at creating paid work experience for regional film and media professionals. The broader ambition is to develop a connected ecosystem in which filmmakers can move from talent development to professional productions and reach new audiences.
