International success for forty entrepreneurs from The Hague region thanks to IMEC internationalization program

Thursday afternoon, December 15, at Spaces Rode Olifant in The Hague, InnovationQuarter and The Hague Business Agency looked back on two years of International Market Entry Coaching (IMEC).

IMEC coached forty entrepreneurs from the Hague region to the British, German, and Danish markets in two years. The program prepared SMEs for international success in nine months, thereby improving the competitive position and employment of the region. IMEC was part of the SME Deal 'International Business for and by SMEs' of the Municipality of The Hague and the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

Saskia Bruines, the alderwoman for Economy for the municipality of The Hague, emphasized the importance of this internationalization program and shared her pride in the goals achieved. "The program has helped all kinds of entrepreneurs: from family businesses to entrepreneurs in the manufacturing industry. The success, knowledge gained and experiences shared show that internationalization is still high on the agenda of the broad Hague SME community. For many entrepreneurs, this was the first time they had ventured into a foreign market. In neighboring countries, admittedly, but with a different culture, business rules, and language. The success was achieved primarily by the entrepreneurs themselves, of course. But with valuable support from the authorities, THBA, IQ, and the Partner Council. Due to great success, we will continue to encourage entrepreneurs to operate internationally." In 2023, the guidance of ten SMEs to markets in Germany, Denmark, or Sweden will begin. To future-proof the program, further regionalization will also be pursued.

Before the announcement, the alderman talked with Robert van der Zwan and Annette Wijering, director of international entrepreneurship at the RVO. Participants of the latest IMEC exposure received their diplomas, shared their experiences, and gained knowledge and insights in a panel discussion. The companies that received their certificates were: BBBLS, BonCode, Buro BRAND, ePay, Hop & Stork, Human Insight, InnoSer, Interactive Robotics, Iron Roots, Isuna, Laveen, Logsign, Lytho, Naìf Good Care, Novasole, Quattor P, Semansys, Six Dogs,Tiller, vBoxx, Wholy Greens an Zarttech. The year-end event concluded with networking drinks in the Red Elephant atrium.

Dinesh Persad, Interactive Robotics: company is betting on opportunities for robotics in healthcare and the classroom: "The IMEC program prepared me well for my first interviews in Germany, so I know now what is going on in the German market. Our market entrance strategy is completely different from our approach in the Netherlands. Because of IMEC we saved a lot of time; I could never have figured this out in such a short period and on my own."

"The program has helped all kinds of entrepreneurs: from family businesses to entrepreneurs in the manufacturing industry. The success, the knowledge gained and experiences shared show that internationalization is still high on the agenda of the broad Hague SME community."
